Page 58 of the Video Toaster Magazine has a review of the "Nitro-VLB"
board that is compatable with any 386/486 VESA Local Bus motherboard.
Apparently the CPU is disconnected and the CPU on the Nitro board is
enabled. The "new" CPU speed is either a 100MHz or 133MHz R4600
depending on the type of board you buy.
All this means is that if you already have a 386/486 VLB compatable
computer you can use the Nitro and not spend money on a new computer.
MAke sure you have a CD-ROM drive on it though. The board comes with
WindowsNT on CD-ROM. The board also has 32MB of TrueCache 15ns RAM!!!
Overall performance of the Nitro compared to a A4000 '040@40MHz ranged
from 2.87x to 3.73x faster. 3.73x includes high motion blur, trace
reflection and trace shadow...
Thanks Erik Flom for a well done article.
